Taste of Merced County and Beyond: Taco fiesta

ATWATER -- A taco fiesta luncheon benefitting the California missions will be held at 11 a.m. on Sept. 6 at the Casablanca Restaurant, 2811 Shaffer Road.

Veritas Parlor No. 75 of the Native Daughters of the Golden West is sponsoring the event. Social hour will begin at 11 a.m. and everyone can build their own tacos at noon.

The cost is $16 and $5 of that will go to the missions.

Gala fundraiser

Merced Playhouse will host its annual fundraising gala Magic in the Moonlight starting at 6 p.m. on Saturday at the Morning Glory Gardens on Highway 140.

Included will be a night of dinner, drinks and entertainment. Tickets are $75 and that includes two drink tickets and wine with dinner. There are sponsorship packages available, providing special benefits for groups and organizations.

A come-and-go buffet luncheon hosted by Merced Business and Professional Women to support the Alice Halstead Memorial Scholarship Fund will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 15 at Fernando's Bistro. Cost is $20 per person.

Monthly breakfast

Novara Rebekah and Willow lodges of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows will host their monthly breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. Aug. 24 at the IOOF Hall on Highway 59 in Snelling.

The public may have an all-you-can eat breakfast of pancakes, eggs, biscuits, gravy, sausage, juice and coffee for a fee of $5 for adults and $2 for children 10 and under.

Lodge breakfast

The La Grange Rebekah Lodge No. 323 is serving breakfast on Sunday at the IOOF Hall on Main Street in La Grange.

The meal will be served from 7 a.m. to noon and will include a ham and cheese omelet or eggs your way, biscuits and gravy and pancakes.

The breakfast costs $6 and includes complimentary juice, coffee, chocolate or tea.
