The past couple of weeks have been hard on my dogs.
Rescue dogs often present us with major problems. Many of the dogs we have rescued through the years have never been in a house, on a leash, even around people. But one dog, who was one of the most disturbed dogs I ever knew, ended up better than I ever could have dreamed.
I only got the puppy because the breeder thought the tiny border collie was going to go blind. The breeder was leaving for vacation, and the puppy with the bad eyes needed to have medication several times a day. So the breeder told me I could have the pup for free if I took care of his eyes.
For some insane reason, about a month ago, when Jan came into heat, we decided to breed her.
Halloween was celebrated this week, and while my dogs and I stayed home and waited in vain for trick-or-treaters (we never get any), I spent some time thinking about what my animals would dress up as if they could.
