Around Town: VFW breakfast
Veterans of Foreign Wars post No. 4327 will serve breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. on Saturday and on the 3rd Saturday of each month thereafter, in the east wing of the Veterans Memorial Building. Some of the proceeds will go to Modesto post no. 3199 to help rebuild the location, which was destroyed by fire in August.

Sunday breakfast
The La Grange Rebekah Lodge No. 323 hosts a pancake breakfast on the third Sunday of the month from 7 to 11 a.m. at the La Grange 100F Hall on Yosemite Ave. (Main St.) in La Grange. Biscuits are baked at 6 a.m. so come early. No item is more than $4 and the proceeds go to support the local elementary school. Biscuits and gravy, cheese omelet and fresh fruit plus drinks. 'Frontiers of Science'
Professor Kathleen Hull will be this months speaker in the "Frontiers of Science and Engineering" lecture series, at
10 a.m. on Saturday at the Challenger Center for Space Science Education. The subject will be "Archaeology in Yosemite: Research at the intersection of Science and the Humanities." Admission is free. For more information, call (209) 726-0296.

Special Mass
St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church of Livingston will celebrate a Mass in honor of Our Lady of Fatima at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. A candle-light rosary procession around the parish grounds with the Pilgrim Virgin statue will follow Mass. Everyone is welcome.
