Safety comes first

The California Fish and Game is in dire need of volunteers to teach hunter safety classes in Merced. To apply, you must be at least 18 years old, have successfully completed a hunter education course and have no felony convictions. After successfully completing all of the requirements, new instructors take an oath of allegiance, receive a California Hunter Education Instructor Card, watch a Hunter Education Instructors Training DVD (yours to keep) and teach a portion of a hunter education class under the supervision of a certified instructor before beginning their own classes.

To maintain current HEI certification, an instructor must teach one class per year and attend one conference (district or satellite or complete an approved correspondence course).

If you can volunteer some time and help to pass on the tradition, please call (209) 827-0895 or e-mail solague@dfg.ca.gov.
