Taste of Merced County and Beyond: Lunch on famous salad

The Atwater Women's Club will host its annual fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at its clubhouse, 1201 Grove Ave.

Tri-tip on the run

Merced Hostel Society Quarterly International Potluck will begin at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Merced Home Hostel.

The theme is Denmark -- so bring a dish to share featuring that country. The next "Visit A Hostel" trip will be June 29. Deposits of $25 will be collected at the potluck for the next trip.

Feast on spaghetti

The community of La Grange will have a spaghetti feed Saturday at the Odd Fellows Hall in downtown La Grange.

All-you-can-eat spaghetti, salad, bread and drinks will be served from 4:30 to 8 p.m., with ice cream sundaes for dessert.

Taste the barbecue again

Cornerstone Lodge No. 111 will have its second barbecue of the year from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at 4246 W. Highway 140.

Members Clemon Howell and William Wall will cook some good old finger-licking down-home barbecue, while other lodge members prepare side dishes. Sit down and eat or pick up the food for take-out.

A farewell feast

The Atwater High School Fellowship of Christian Athletes will host a farewell fundraiser dinner Saturday in honor of retirees Greg Bell and Maynard Medefind.

The event begins at 6 p.m. at the Central Presbyterian Church's Hoffmeister Center, 1920 Canal St. Tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for children ages 2 to 12.

Omelets on Mother's Day

Special omelets will be served for Mother's Day from 8 to 11 a.m. Sunday at the monthly Northern Mariposa County History Center.

There will also be the usual breakfast of pancakes, eggs, sausage or ham and fruit plus drinks. Cost for the omelet breakfast is $7, and regular breakfast is still $4 for adults, $3 for children or $15 for a family of two adults and two children.
