The Merced High School class of 1950 will have its 58-year reunion on Sept. 20 at 6:30 p.m. at the Merced Elks Lodge. Other classmates of the 1940s and 1950s are also invited to attend the reunion.
Danny and Erica Ramos of Los Banos are proud to announce the birth of their son, Eric James Ramos. He was born at 12:35 p.m. on July 20, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center Merced, weighed 7 pounds 13 ounces and was 19 1/2 inches long. Eric will join his sibling, Cole Ramos, at home. Maternal grandparents are Jim and Vicki Petrocelli of Los Banos. Paternal grandparents are Dan and Maryann Ramos of Los Banos.
A celebration of the 60th anniversary of the graduation of the Merced Union High School Class of 1948 will be held at 6 p.m. Oct. 8 at the Elks Lodge, 19th and M streets. Any graduate of any Merced Union High School class of that era is cordially invited to attend this reunion.
Army Spec. Jonas Carlo P.V. Cruz is one of 67 soldiers who participated in the largest ever re-enlistment ceremony in Baghdad, Iraq. A total of 1,215 Soldiers, Airmen, Sailors and Marines were administered the re-enlistment oath by the commanding general of Multi-National Forces-Iraq. The soldier re-enlisted for six years to extend the number of years to serve the nation.
