Q: We bought our standard poodle from a well-known breeder of these dogs who shows hers in Westminster each year. Of course, every year our family -- and the dog -- watch the finals of the show on TV. It is exciting to watch the live judging of the dogs. What we cannot quite understand is how the judges compare the different breeds and then decide what dog is the winner. It does not quite seem fair to judge two different breeds together in some of these cases, as certain breeds seem more difficult to keep in show condition than others.
