Merced County agriculture activity continues into fall season

The Merced County Agriculture Commissioner's office has released the crop condition report for the week ending Nov. 22.

Winter wheat crop condition is good. Cotton is 100 percent harvested, while winter wheat is 85 percent planted and 50 percent emerged.

Small-grain fields continue to be planted. Dry bean harvest is winding down and some fields are being baled for straw. Alfalfa, cotton and corn harvests are complete.

Pomegranate and walnut harvest continues. Almond hulling and stockpile fumigations continue. Almond orchards continue to be pruned and orchard removal continues.

The almond harvest is complete.

Nurser stock fields and orchard field fumigation continues.

Radicchio and sweet potato harvest continues, and sweet potato field fumigations continue. Chili peppers for processing continue to be harvested.

Supplemental livestock feeding of hay and nutrients continues.
