Around Town: Poker run fundraiser

A downtown poker run to benefit the Children's Hospital Central California will be hosted by Del Corazon Guild from 4 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 9 starting at Fernando's Bistro. The inaugural Pedal Merced family bicyle fest will take place at 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 12. It will start and finish at Merced High School and will be a friendly

Benefit concert

Maraichi en Merced will hold its sixth annual scholarship benefit concert on Oct. 18 at the Merced County Fairgrounds Exhibit Building. It will start with a horse show at 4 p.m., dinner at 5:30 p.m. and folklore dancers at 6 p.m. and the concert begins at 7 p.m. You must be 21 to attend and no tickets will be sold at the door. Cost is $40 per person or sponsor a table of eight for $100. All proceeds will go to academic scholarships to students within Merced County and Merced's sister-city of Somoto, Nicaragua. Teen Summit
