Editor: I was disappointed when I opened up the Saturday Sun-Star and saw Merced High School football team on the cover of the sports section and LeGrand High School in the bottom right-hand corner.
It's not that I don't think Merced High School football team doesn't deserve recognition, I just feel like Le Grand deserved the spotlight this one time.
Anyone who attended the game Friday night could have told you that it wasn't just another game, it was magical. We are such a small community, but the stands were packed and everyone was cheering and shouting. I don't think I'll ever experience a sporting event like that again.
Everything that night was perfect, it was homecoming, it was the 100th anniversary and it was against Mariposa, our oldest rival.
Our boys played with a lot of heart that night and I would have just liked to have seen it shown in the Sun-Star.
