Letter: Blake's abilities

Editor: On Oct. 4, 1971, two young men were sworn in as deputies by Merced County Sheriff John J. Latorraca.

I would share my 32-year law enforcement career with now Undersheriff Bill Blake. Not only did we climb through the ranks together, we shared a professional and personal relationship.

I've witnessed Blake's commitment to public safety and service. Blake is intelligent, honest and committed to any task that he undertakes. He is dedicated and approachable, which are qualities that are needed for city government.

I respectfully submit my request to the citizens of Merced to join me in voting for Bill Blake for City Council on Tuesday. His knowledge and experience in local government, along with his leadership abilities, will be an asset to our city.

GARY T. CARLSON
