Letter: Cervantes refreshing

Editor: I have had the opportunity to meet Richard Cervantes, a candidate for City Council, on a few occasions.

Cervantes is a very impressive young man who has a firm grasp on the dynamics of the local political environment and a talent to communicate them in a way that the common man can understand without making him or her feel overwhelmed by the typical political jargon. A great gift, indeed.

I have witnessed his motivation to serve his community with both actions and words as he has worked diligently to provide for his family in these trying times. At the same time, he has made sure that he spreads his message of strong support for family, community and the law.

It has been refreshing to see a young man involved in the positive growth of his community as reflected by his two-and-a-half years as city planning commissioner.

I strongly endorse Cervantes as I am convinced that he will perform at the highest level, a level that is dearly needed to help expedite the future recovery of Merced's prosperity.
