Opinion - Letters to the Editor

Friday, Oct. 30, 2009

Letter: Please, help us

Editor: Some leadership, please, Rep. Dennis Cardoza.

On health care, our congressman seems to be more worried about appearances, rather than being fiscally responsible. In the past, he has been happy to plump farm bills to give Valley farmers a piece of taxpayer money.

Why the reticence to helping the majority of his constituents?

Fixing health care would give us far better health care for less than we are spending now.

This fear of "socialism" is a bad joke. Farm programs, national defense, police, fire, Social Security and Medicare are socialist, and health care should be, too.

Only fear of right-wing labeling and insurance industry propaganda is blocking the needed changes.

If done properly, reform will actually help productive businesses by getting them out of health care and reducing costs.

But Cardoza probably already knows that. Please help us get there, congressman.
