Editor: I'm a middle-class American, and I've never had a problem with getting health insurance.
The last five years my job did not provide it so I attained it on my own. Paying $150 a month on health and dental for myself and my wife doesn't seem outrageous.
Most states have programs for middle- to low-income families that provide low-cost health insurance to children under 18. I had this for my daughter and paid $14 a month out of pocket.
I believe it all comes down to priorities.
Some people are more concerned about entertainment and belongings than their health. They point a finger at insurance companies and hospitals when they should be looking in the mirror.
If you can't afford health insurance get basic cable, cook, get a land-line phone, get a cheap car with good gas mileage and stop complaining.
