Letter: We need Pollard

Editor: Carl Pollard is just what the Merced City Council needs.

His conservative political leanings are all about setting priorities. His first consideration has always been the needs of the community, first and foremost.

Although the police and firemen's unions are not backing him, he has always given highest priority to public safety. Pollard prefers not to have union backing so he can remain impartial and objective in the tough decisions that come with the job of serving the people -- all the people.

Another of Pollard's highest priorities is to create an industry-friendly environment that will bring much-needed jobs to the community. He was instrumental in helping bring Wal-Mart to the community and will continue his efforts. He believes that the environment is a high priority but jobs are a higher priority.

Pollard has always promoted the importance of volunteering and encourages others to give back to the community by donating time and talents for the betterment of the community. He strongly backs programs like the Boys & Girls Club and would like to see more community interaction in dealing with at risk youth.
