Editor: Here is a plea to all of the people in our county.
Please consider donating a turkey to our local food bank. I believe if 10 percent of the population were to donate a turkey that would feed families in need for Thanksgiving dinner.
Merced County Food Bank and the local food pantries are working together to meet the need to have a traditional Thanksgiving dinner.
Think about it: if just 10 percent of 80,608 in the city of Merced alone donated, that would be 8,000 turkeys. Wouldn't that be great?
I know that there are more than 50 pantries throughout Merced County that try to meet the needs in our community.
