Letter: Dismaying coverage

Editor: As I sit here and listen to the "morning after" rhetoric of the VP debates I am absolutely dismayed by the response to Gov. Sarah Palin's performance. She exceeded the expectations of 85 percent of most Americans and all over the news are reports of her ability to hold her own against Sen. Joe Biden.

How ridiculous.

What she did was manage to complete sentences with proper verb tenses and not ramble on about "getting back" to moderator Gwen Ifill of PBS. The low expectation for this woman was incredible; people expected her to fall flat on her face.

What did happen ... she went to John McCain's Arizona estate, stuffed her brain full of facts and then gave the American people a pre-determined speech. She even so boldly stated herself, "I am not going to answer the moderator's questions."

When she did not know an answer to a question she went back to her pre-recorded speech about how her experience in Alaska applies to the vice presidency.

Apparently, the woman doesn't know her own "Achilles' heel."

What was the most shocking event of the entire evening, however, was not the mean-spiritedness of her snicker to Joe Biden's account of his daughter's death and his son's near death, that was bad ... no, the worst was when she showed her own ignorance of the U.S. Constitution and her desire to overhaul the office of the vice presidency.

Apparently, they forgot to cover the Legislative versus Executive branches in her study sessions at the "Estate."

On top of that she now wants to oversee the entire Senate. I for one have had enough of Vice President Dick Cheney and do not want to meet his female counterpart.
