ATWATER -- The Golden Valley cross country team took care of business at the Central California Conference Championships.
Teresa Mallory won her second consecutive individual title, while the boys earned a share of the team title by winning Wednesday afternoon's race at Buhach Colony.
Mallory began her postseason kick by cruising to victory on the fast and flat three-mile course. She finished in 18 minutes, 25 seconds -- 14 seconds faster than runnerup Amanda Garcia of Atwater.
The Atwater girls team didn't leave empty handed, winning its first team title since 1978.
Atwater had four girls finish in the top-10. Rocio Rodriguez was fourth (19.37), steps ahead of teammate Cassidy Heckman (19.44). Collette Wilcox finished ninth (20.06).
Buhach Colony finished second on the stride and kick of Jennifer Ramos (third, 19.28) and Emily Cortez (seventh, 19.58), climbing into a two-way tie with Turlock for second in the final standings.
The Golden Valley boys continued their late-season push, running away with the championship race.
Rusman Purewall (third, 15.37), Alberto Vasquez (fourth, 15.40) and Andrew Muncherian (eighth, 16.12) all placed in the top-10 for Golden Valley, which won last week's Merced County final.
The team victory earned Golden Valley a share of the overall championship with Buhach Colony.
Atwater's Pedro Osornio won the individual title by more than 30 seconds, crossing the tape at 15.02.
Los Banos' Flavio Castro was second (15.34), while Merced's Quinn Kantor (fifth, 15.52), Buhach Colony's Mark Machado (seventh, 16.10) and Raul Ortega (10th, 16.20), and Atwater's Guadalupe Vargas (ninth, 16.14) rounded out the locals in the top-10.
The next step is the Sac-Joaquin Sub-Section meet at Frogtown in Angels Camp on Saturday, Nov. 7.
