ATWATER -- It's not often a Homecoming fireworks display gets shown up.
The Buhach Colony faculty arranged a spectacular show as the national anthem hit its climax on Friday night at Falcon Field.
But as dazzling as the bright lights and mighty booms were, the Buhach Colony offense was just packing a little more explosiveness.
Kevin Swartwood's offense was firing on all cylinders as it racked up 530 total yards and 56 points in the opening half against Golden Valley.
The starting unit enjoyed the rest of the game from the sideline as Buhach cruised to a 69-19 victory.
"This was the first game all season where we played how I thought we were capable of playing on offense, defense and special teams," Swartwood said. "The defense had a chip on its shoulders after last week and the offense just keeps building momentum."
BC's Fly offense gave the GV defense fits all evening, but running back Dallon Muse insured he won't be receiving any warm salutations on the East side of Merced anytime soon.
The junior struck early and often, gashing Golden Valley for five touchdowns. Muse finished with nine carries for 168 rushing yards and two catches for 99 receiving yards.
"Once this offense gets in rhythm, it's almost impossible to stop," Muse said. "The offensive line was pushing everyone back and we were able to find some big holes."
Muse's 7-yard touchdown run with 4:13 to go in the first quarter made it 14-0 Buhach (3-2 CCC, 6-3).
BC recovered back-to-back pooch kickoffs, both of which led to TD runs as it built a 28-0 lead.
Tyler Arnsberg responded for Golden Valley (1-4 CCC, 3-6), hitting Robert Askew for a 65-yard touchdown pass.
But momentum didn't stay with GV for long.
Muse caught a 79-yard touchdown pass from Ben Watkins two plays later and added TD runs of 53 and 86 on BC's next two possessions.
Corey Chapman added a 64-yard TD run to close the half and finished with 118 yards on nine carries.
"We just didn't have the ball enough," GV coach Jon Betschart said. "They're explosive and you need to try and keep them off of the field, but they had six possessions to our three in the first quarter."
GV backup quarterback Jerry Martinez did lead a pair of scoring drives in the second half, hitting James Sanchez for a 5-yard TD pass and running for a 9-yard score.
