ANGELS CAMP -- The Atwater boys and girls cross country teams both had good showings at the Sac-Joaquin Sub-Section championships on Saturday at Frogtown.
Central California Conference champion Pedro Osornio helped lead the Atwater boys to a ninth-place finish in the Division II race.
Osornio finished 10th with a time of 16 minutes, 39 seconds. Teammate Guadalupe Vargas finished 35th with a time of 17:17.
The Buhach Colony boys finished 11th in Division II. Mark Machado turned in the top time for BC, crossing the finish line in 18:00.
The Golden Valley boys and Los Banos boys finished 12th and 13th, respectively, in the Division I race.
The top local times came from LB's Flavio Castro (27th place, 17:18), Merced's Quinn Kantor (33rd, 17:31) and GV's Rusman Purewal (40th, 17:40).
In the Division III race, Sergio Garcia posted a time of 17:52 to help Livingston come away with an eighth-place finish.
On the girls side, Amanda Garcia (20:20) and Cassidy Heckman (21:22) propelled Atwater to a ninth-place finish in the Division II race. Buhach Colony finished 12th with the help of Jennifer Ramos (21:31).
Golden Valley's Teresa Mallory kicked her way to a time of 20:31 to finish 21st in the Division I race, and sophomore Kelsey Gallegos (20:40) finished 21st to lead Livingston to a 15th place in the Division III race.
