FOLSOM -- Pedro Osornio continues to perform in big races.
The Atwater senior finished 10th at the Sac-Joaquin Section cross country championships on Saturday at Willow Hill. Osornio kicked his way to a time of 16 minutes, 47 seconds. Osornio wasn't the only local runner to run well against the top runners in the section. Atwater teammate Guadalupe Vargas finished with a time of 17:31, which was good for 34th.
In the Division I race, Los Banos senior Flavio Castro finished 37th with a time of 18:08. Sergio Garcia (17:52) and Izzak Mireles (17:56) helped Livingston finish seventh in the Division III race.
On the girls side, Golden Valley's Teresa Mallory finished 24th in the Division I race with a time of 21:08.
Atwater's Amanda Garcia and Cassidy Heckman both ran well in Division II. Garcia's time of 20:52 was good for 19th, and Heckman crossed the line 33rd in 21:42. Livingston sophomore Kelsey Gallegos took 20th (20:54) in Division III.
