Up Your Alley: Decker makes super shot

Picking up the 7-10 split is a one-in-a-million shot for any bowler.

Well, Justin Decker isn't just any bowler. Decker did the unbelievable recently, picking up the tricky split while rolling in the Tuesday night Guys and Dolls at Bellevue Bowl.

As some of you may remember, Decker made local bowling history when he was in the junior program at Bellevue by rolling the first and only 800 series by a junior bowler. Since the United States Bowling Congress has changed its award program for the 2009-10 season, I don't think Decker will receive an award. Considering we pay $20 a year for a USBC membership, you would think that an accomplishment such as a 7-10 would receive an award. Wouldn't you?

If your want to say hi to Rowena Mitchell in New York, she said that you can contact her at rww2730@sbcglobal.net. I know she would be happy to hear from her bowling friends in the area.

Results from last Saturday's no-tap doubles at Bellevue Bowl: Lee Almeida and Garland Moore took first with a score of 1,670 ($144); Travis Mason and Jeff Stum finished second ($96); and high-game pots were won by Randy Pitcock, Mike Robins, Gudi Ross and Renate Stolte. The jackpot now stands at $582.

Tomorrow is your next-to-last chance to qualify for the Tournament of Champions on Dec. 27 at Yosemite Lanes. The scratch six-gamer starts at noon, with check-in time at 11 a.m. The TOC has a guarantee of a $1,000 for first place and half of the field of 24 will cash. Entry fee is $80, and you will be rolling on the house shot.
