Fresno State football's defense bite down in overtime
By DANIEL LYGHT

TOLEDO, Ohio -- The defense saved the day for Fresno State once again Saturday night, with linebacker Nico Herron diving to bat down a 2-point conversion pass that could have won the game for Toledo.
But though the defense came through when it needed to, the unit's performance as a whole was nowhere near where it was in the first two games of this season.
After two games of top-notch defense, Fresno State nearly fell to the Rockets in a tough road game before emerging with a 55-54 double-overtime win.
Rockets running backs DuJuane Collins and Morgan Williams ran for a combined 280 yards and three touchdowns.
"The defense didn't come out with the right mind-set," defensive end Wilson Ramos said. "In the beginning of the game we didn't come out to play, but toward the second half we picked up the tempo and started playing a little harder. I'm just glad we picked it up and got the win."
