Merced Lions water polo tourney begins today

The Merced College women's water polo team opens the 14th annual Merced Breakfast Lions Tournament with two matches today at Merced College.

The Lady Devils will face Sacramento City at 10:20 a.m., and then close out the afternoon against American River at 5:20.

The nine-team tournament will also feature Sierra, Santa Rosa, Laney, San Diego Mesa, Fresno City and Saddleback.

Because of budget restraints, the tournament will break from its traditional format, which was to pit teams from Northern and Southern California against one another.
