MC baseball's back already against the wall

QUINCY -- The Merced College baseball put itself in a must-win situation, squandering a four-run lead and falling 5-4 to Feather River in 10 innings on Friday.

Feather River's Kyle Wise ended the game with a walk-off home run.

The Blue Devils will have to win a pair of games today to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Game 2 is set for noon, with a Game 3 to follow if necessary.

MC took a 3-0 lead on two-out, run-scoring singles by Ben Gorang and John Canepa in the first.

Scott Uehara expanded the lead with a run-scoring ground out in the third, but the Blue Devils only mustered two hits the rest of the way.

Feather River got to MC starter Brian Gilbertson in the sixth, tying the game with six singles.
