Around Town: Smart budgeting class

Love INC's next Smart Money Budget Counseling Class will begins on at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 29.

The classes are designed primarily for any low income person that is interested in learning how to more effectively manage the financial resources that they have. Classes run for six weeks and are offered at no charge. Child care and transportation are offered if needed.

COULTERVILLE

Roast Beef dinners

The Coulterville Community United Methodist Church is back with those magnificent roast beef dinners. This months' dinner will be Jan. 31 from 4 to 7 p.m. Roast beef with all the fixings, assorted beverages and homemade desserts.

Suggested donations are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and younger or a family packet for $25 for two adults and two children.

The church is located on Highway 49 just across the street from the Coulterville Park. Take outs are available.

MERCED

Canned food drive

GSF Properties will host a canned food drive. They will collect nonperishable foods from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Jan. 31 in the parking lot of the Villages Apartments.

The first 10 people to donate 20 or more items will receive a gift card. All food will go to the Merced County Food Bank. for more information, call (209) 383-2201.

ATWATER

BBQ benefits sports

Atwater Youth Baseball, Softball and T-ball will host its annual tri-tip barbecue from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Feb. 7 in the Food-4-Less parking lot in Atwater.

MERCED

Sacramento Autorama

The 2009 Sacramento Autorama will be held in Sacramento on Feb. 7 at the Cal Expo Fairgrounds. Catch the bus at 7:45 a.m. and return at 5 p.m., in the Merced County administration building parking lot, 23rd and M St. Cost for the bus ride and ticket to the show are $40 and coffee and donuts will be provided. ATWATER

Crab, jazz and blues

Come and enjoy a Crab, Jazz and Blues Bash at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 7 at the Merced County Fairgrounds. The event will feature all-you-can-eat crab, music by the Buhach Jazz Ensemble and dancing to Mike Hammar and the Nails. Hot and cold crab prepared by the Culinary Institute of Modesto and a silent and live auction will also be available. You can sponsor a table of eight for $320 or tickets are $45 each. Proceeds benefit the Buhach Colony High music program. For more information, call (209) 761-1040.
