Around Town: Enchilada dinner

HORNITOS -- The 60th annual Hornitos Enchilada Dinner will take place from 4 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the Stag Hall in downtown Hornitos.

Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Hot or cold takeout orders are available. Entertainment is from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

St. Luke's Anglican Church invites the public to spring forward to daylight-saving time with classical music and a traditional English cream tea at 3 p.m. on Sunday at 350 W. Yosemite Ave.

Difference recognized

The Merced Soroptomists will host a luncheon to honor women who are making extraordinary differences in the lives of women or girls.

The luncheon will be held at the Elks Club from noon to 1:30 p.m. March 19.

Taste the wine

The 33rd Columbia wine tasting will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. April 19 at the Columbia State Historic Park.

Tickets are $45 each and proceeds will go toward scholarships for culinary students and purchases of essential program materials and equipment.

Dinner for Mom

Club Mercedes will host a Mother's Day Dinner and Dance for adults only from 6 p.m. to midnight on May 9 at 569 W. 9th St.

Cost is $20 per person and includes a New York steak dinner, and dancing to Los Amigos and DJ Joe Macias. No tickets will be sold at the door.

Yoga is free

Merced College noncredit program offers free yoga classes on Mondays through Thursdays from 9 to 10:30 a.m. The class is at Denisa's at G and Bear Creek. This is especially beneficial for seniors.

Love animals?

Trails of Happy Tails, a local nonprofit group dedicated to saving shelter animals and finding them new homes, needs volunteers to help.

Especially needed are people who can foster kittens for a few days, or mother dogs and their new puppies for a short time.

Also needed are people to help take photos of shelter animals or to help transport animals to rescue organizations. No personal vehicles are needed for transportation.

Apply for scholarship

Travis Credit Union invites all graduating seniors to apply for a scholarship. Students must be a high school senior with a GPA of 3.0, bound for a two- or four-year college or university and a member of Travis Credit Union in good standing.

Scholarship applications are available at any branch location or apply at www.traviscu.org.

Completed applications are due by March 13.
