Sun-Star special report: Meth in Merced

March 6, 2009

For at least the past decade, methamphetamine has been the most widely abused illegal drug both across California and in Merced County.

Locally, more people enter treatment programs for help kicking meth than any other drug, including alcohol. Law enforcement officials and social service providers say it is among the most serious and costly problems facing Merced.

In short, methamphetamine use is an epidemic here.
