A 36-year-old man is recovering after being shot early Monday morning in the 400 block of Drakeley Avenue in Atwater. Although details are sketchy, Atwater police believe the incident does have some gang overtones, said detective Armando Echevarria.
Police responded at about 1:40 a.m. and found the victim outside with a gunshot wound to his arm. He is expected to recover. He was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries and later released, Echevarria said. Police do not have a description of the suspects and no one has been arrested. Witnesses reported hearing a single gunshot and seeing a single subject flee from the scene on foot.
The department’s street crime unit is investigating.
