GUSTINE -- More than 6,000 people crowded into and around Gustine High School for the fireworks show, Gustine Police Chief Richard Calderon said.
No incidents were reported at the scene and the show was very peaceful, Calderon said.
"It was a wonderful fireworks display," he said. "People really enjoyed it. I appreciated it."
Earlier in the day many residents were taken aback after a very-visible motorcycle accident on Main Street just after the Fourth of July parade.
A motorcyclist turning left onto Main Street lost control, plowing through a garden area and into a wall, Calderon said.
It is unclear what caused the accident, but Calderon said the driver could have driven over a slick manhole cover.
Calderon was just down the street when he heard the commotion at the accident scene.
The driver, John Machado, was treated and released at Los Banos Memorial Hospital.
"Luckily, he was wearing a helmet," Calderon said.
