FRESNO -- Fresno State didn't stray from its ways much in the first half of its season opener at Bulldog Stadium.
Rolling over UC Davis with their running game, the Bulldogs totaled 125 rushing yards in the first quarter.
Then, in the second quarter from their 8-yard line, first-year starting quarterback Ryan Colburn hit speedy senior Marlon Moore on the Bulldogs' longest scoring pass since 2005.
Moore beat single coverage down the right sideline and Colburn tossed a perfect touch pass about 20 yards downfield for a 92-yard score.
The rout was on, but more importantly for Bulldogs followers, the hype seemed real. Fresno State beat UC Davis, a Football Championship Subdivision opponent, 51-0 Saturday night and gave the 37,267 fans in attendance reason to expect what has been the unexpected with Fresno State in recent seasons: sex appeal.
"We're trying to bring the deep ball back to Fresno," Moore said, "We've got the talent."
