Blessing of the Animals

Everyone is invited to the Blessing of the Animals on Friday at St. Luke's Anglican School and Church at 8:30 a.m., 350 W. Yosemite Ave. Bring your pet, pictures of pets or stuffed animals to be blessed. For information, call (209) 723-3907 or (209) 383-1888.

Seasonal flu clinics

Merced County will hold seasonal flu clinics for adults. The flu shots are for people 60 and older, those with chronic health conditions, health care workers, those who care of an adult 50 or older or a child younger than 5, those who will be pregnant during the flu season, or reside in nursing homes or longterm facilities. For a complete list of those eligible call, (209) 381-1180 or go to co.merced.ca.us. The dates for the clinics are: Merced on Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 260 E. 15th St.; Atwater on Oct. 15, 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., 760 E. Bellevue Road and Los Banos on Oct. 21, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 403 F St. These are for seasonal flu, not H1N1.

VFW karaoke

Atwater VFW will host its monthly karaoke on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at 1390 Broadway. For information, call (209) 358-7224 after 3 p.m.

GUSTINE

Sausage tasting Wolfsen Meat and Sausage Co. will host a sausage tasting from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, at 358 South Ave. There will be more than 60 kinds of fresh and smoked sausages to taste. Cost is $5 per person and 10 percent will go to Gustine Volunteer Fire Department. For more information, go to wolfsensausage.com. There will be food, music and fun.

Women's Club luncheon The Merced Women's Club will host its monthly luncheon on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at the clubhouse, 707 W. 22nd St. Cost is $8 per person and reservations must be made by Friday. For information, call (209) 723-5921.

Scramble Golf Tournament

The Lake Don Pedro Elementary School Parents Club will host the second annual Scramble Format Golf Tournament at 10 a.m. on Oct. 10 at the Lake Don Pedro Golf and Country Club. Cost is $95 per player or $55 if you are a member of the club. Fees include golf cart, green fees, dinner and awards ceremony. Dinner-only tickets are $25. Raffle tickets are available and all proceeds will go towards equipment and supplies needed for student learning and sports activities. Habitat for Humanity Habitat for Humanity will hold a celebratory event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m on Oct. 10 at the property where its first Habitat Home will be built, 4146 Sebastopol Road.
