Police looking for man who robbed Union Bank

Merced police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a robber who struck a Union Bank branch Monday. Police released photos of the suspect late Tuesday. They show a light-skinned man wearing a black button-down shirt, sunglasses and a black baseball hat. Authorities are describing him as a Latino in his mid-20s, about 5-foot-8 and 155 pounds.

Anyone with information on the robbery should call Det. Joe Deliman at (209) 385-6992, or the Merced Police Department’s anonymous tip line at (209) 385-4725.

No one was hurt in the robbery, which happened around 12:30 p.m. Monday at a Union Bank branch inside the Save Mart supermarket at the corner Olive Avenue and G Street.

Police aren’t saying how much money the robber made off with. He presented a note to a teller saying he had a gun, though he never showed a weapon.
