Hornitos will once again celebrate All Souls' Day Monday in the Mariposa County town.
Included this year will be an art exhibit which will run from today through Monday at the Pacific Saloon Building in the town square.
Art will be on exhibit from noon to 8 p.m. today, from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday and from noon to 9 p.m. Monday. An artists' reception will be held during the Monday hours.
With a population of less than 100, Hornitos is a living ghost town, with a rich history of mining and ranching.
The tradition of celebrating All Souls' Day goes back more than 100 years in the town.
At dusk Monday, a procession to St. Catherine's Catholic Church will start at the town square. Participants will carry candles to the church, where an outside ceremony will be held in the cemetery.
A Mass will be said inside the church after the ceremony. After Mass, food will be available for sale at the town hall. Proceeds go to the Hornitos Patrons' Club.
