Atwater man selected for scholarship

Scott Brookshire of Atwater has been selected as a recipient in the 2009 UCB Family Epilepsy Scholarship Program.

Brookshire, who is attending City College of San Francisco, was one of 40 people selected from a pool of 800 applicants for the award. The college scholarship is awarded annually to people affected by epilepsy. The number of scholarships was increased by 30 percent over previous years, due to increased interest, according to a press release.

UCB, a biopharmaceutical company based in Belgium, awarded 28 scholarships to people living with epilepsy and 12 to family members or caregivers of someone living with epilepsy.
