Mariposa County announces vacancies on planning panels

Mariposa County has announced openings on several planning committees. The county is seeking to fill vacancies on the planning advisory committees for Midpines, El Portal, Greeley Hill and Yosemite West, as well as the Historic Sites & Records Preservation Commission.

The purpose of the planning advisory committees is to make recommendations on the adoption of specific plans and address other planning issues. Members must reside, own property or be employed within the geographic areas of the committees they represent.

Yosemite West: There are two vacancies. One term expires Feb. 28, 2010, while the other expires Feb. 28, 2011. Historic Sites and Records Preservation Commission: One vacancy exists. The position is for an at-large alternate member, which would be effective until resignation or removal by board vote.

The commission is responsible for nominating potential historic sites, developing an inventory of cultural and historic resources, reviewing and recommending remodels, maintenance and landscaping of the county's courthouse and reviewing all projects which may impact a historic or archeological site.
