DIVISION I: The championship game between Golden Valley and Carmichael Jesuit will headline today's soccer action at Lincoln High in Stockton. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. ... Golden Valley beat Yolo Davis 5-3 on penalty kicks in the semifinal round on Thursday night. ... Jesuit, looking for its eighth Division I title, beat Stockton Franklin soundly in its semifinal on Thursday, 3-0. ... As impressive as GV's 11-game unbeaten streak has been, Jesuit, one of the top-ranked teams in the nation, has won 24 straight games.
DIVISION V: It'll be an all-Western Athletic Conference showdown in the Division V championship game today at Lincoln (10 a.m.). WAC runnerup Hilmar gets one last crack at WAC champion Patterson. ... In three meetings this season, the two teams went 1-1-1. ... Hilmar has outscored its two playoff opponents 6-1, with Jordan and Alex Bettencourt leading the way with two goals apiece. ... Hilmar won the Division V crown in 2006. ... Patterson has been to the last two Division V championship games, losing both to Livingston (2007) and Linden (2008.)
Volleyball
ROAD TRIP: No. 3 Atwater, the last local volleyball team standing, hits the road for the first time this postseason on Tuesday, when it travels to No. 2 St. Francis. The winner advances to the Division II final on Thursday, Nov. 19, at UC Davis.
Cross Country
SECTIONS: Golden Valley's Teresa Mallory and Atwater's Pedro Osornio lead a contingent of Merced County runners at today's Sac-Joaquin Section Meet at Willow Hill in Folsom. The meet is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
