Around Town: Coat drive for winter

Share the warmth by donating gently used and clean coats to help someone in need stay warm this winter.

Drop-off locations are Rabobank, 2000 M St.; Christian Life Center, 650 E. Olive Ave.; AAA, 3065 M St.; EECU, 127 W. El Portal Drive.

Donations are being taken until Friday and the band Rock Da Block will be performing Saturday.

ATWATER

Kops, Fire dinner

The Atwater Kops and Fire for Kids will host its annual tri-tip dinner and dance Saturday at the APC Hall at Third and Elm streets.

Cost is $15 per person and it will go from 6 p.m. to midnight. There will be a barrel for donating new, unwrapped toys.

Breakfast for camp

Jack L. Boyd Outdoor School at Camp Green Meadows will host its fifth annual fundraiser breakfast from 7 to 8:30 a.m. Dec. 4 at the Merced County Office of Education, 632 W. 13th St.

Tickets are $10 and include eggs, pancakes, ham, fruit and coffee for dine in or take out. Raffle tickets are $5 each.

Maps on display

Merced Civic Center will have a display of "Maps" from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Dec. 4 at 678 W. 18th St.

These are maps of crime incidents, park locations and aerial maps showing how Merced has changed from 1999 to 2008.

Biscotti sale

The Italian Catholic Federation will sponsor a biscotti sale at St. Patrick's Church, 671 E. Yosemite Ave. from 2 to 5 p.m. Dec. 5 and 6.

Biscotti is $6 a dozen and proceeds will go to scholarships, Mercy Hospital Foundation, OLM School, St. Vincent de Paul and other charities.

SPCA luncheon

The SPCA will host its annual luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Dec. 9 at Carrow's Restaurant, 720 Motel Drive.

On the menu is Salisbury steak or sliced turkey with salad, rolls, drink and dessert. Cost is $15 per person and no takeout. Gift baskets and gift cards are for sale.

Menudo Sunday

Club Mercedes is now hosting Menudo Sunday every Sunday from 8 a.m. to noon at the club.

Get a small bowl for $6 or a large bowl for $7. Eat in or take out.
