"Camp Edward all the way!" says 19-year-old Katie Cole, as her mother Melanie, a Twilight convert, laughs while waiting with over 200 other fans for the second film in the saga, New Moon, at UA Regency theaters in Merced on Thursday night.
Katie was referring to the plot twist in the new movie which shifts Bella's affections from teen hearthrob Edward, pictured on laptop, to childhood friend Jacob. Very few of the females present claimed to be in the Jacob camp.
The film, based on the best-selling teen vampire novels, opened nationwide at midnight lastnight with long lines of fans who waited for hours for the film to begin. Katie and her mother, who bought their tickets when they went on sale early last month, showed up at 4:15 to ensure they secured a good seat for the sold-out screening.
