Basketball roundup

BASKETBALL

LOS BANOS 86,

DOS PALOS 51

LOS BANOS -- Erik Martin needed very little time to adjust from football to basketball.

The Los Banos quarterback laced up his shoes and poured in 18 points to lead LB to an 86-51 win over rival Dos Palos.

Martin hit three 3-pointers on the night.

"Even though the football team played more games this year, Erik said he feels better than he did last year," Los Banos coach Joe Barcellos said. "I think he only missed one shot tonight."

Fellow football player, Jerrell Minor, added 10 points for Los Banos (2-4).

Shawn Demmers paced Dos Palos (0-1) with 12 points. Another gridiron star, Kevin Schofield, chipped in with 10 points for DP.

DENAIR 52, LE GRAND 37

LE GRAND -- Clayton McDonald's 18 points helped Denair open up Southern League play with a win.

Zack Moreno led Le Grand with 18 points.

Le Grand football players didn't join the team until Monday. The football team played for the Sac-Joaquin Section Division V championship on Saturday.

Le Grand dropped to 0-2 on the season.
