Soccer
The Merced United Explosion under-14 girls competitive soccer team is looking for a few more players born between Aug. 1, 1995, and July 31, 1996.

Golf
The Visalia Country Club is hosting the Jerry Heard Junior Golf Tournament on Monday, Dec. 28. Juniors, 17 years and younger, can sign up through the Northern California Junior Golf Association or contact the golf shop at (559) 734-1458.
Softball/Baseball
The Atwater-Merced Little League baseball and softball leagues are taking registration for the 2010 season. You can register at www.atwaterlittleleague.org. You can also register in person at the Atwater K-mart or at the Merced Mall on Saturdays and Sundays throughout December and January, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, call 357-5150.
Wrestling
The GV Mat Cats youth wrestling club's folkstyle season is now in session for all boys and girls, ages 5-16. Practices are Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays 6:00-7-30 p.m. inside the Golden Valley High School wrestling room. The season runs through February, with local tournaments every Sunday. Club dues are $60 for the entire season (includes T-shirt). Participants will also need to have a current USA Wrestling membership. Contact coach Colin Downs at (209) 564-7871 for more information.
Running
The Merced Running Club will host a Turkey Trot Fun Run today at Applegate Park.
The 1-kilometer run, for children 13 and under, starts at 8:15 a.m. The 2- mile and 5-mile run/walk will begin at 8:30 a.m.
The 2- and 5-mile races are $15 pre-registration and $17 on race day. The childrens' run is $8 pre-registration and $10 on race day.
A portion of the proceeds benefit the Merced Rescue Mission's annual Thanksgiving dinner.
Basketball
The Le Grand High School Hustlen' Bulldogs Boy's Basketball Program is hosting their 3rd Annual Alumni Basketball Games and take-out Chicken Dinner ($8.00). The games will take place at Le Grand High School Gym on Thanksgiving weekend, Saturday November 28th at 5:00pm. Both the Alumni Basketball Games and Chicken Dinner are fundraisers for our Hustlen' Bulldogs Boy's Basketball Program. Be sure to take time to come out and support the Bulldog Basketball Team. All Alumni Basketball Game participants must be pre-registered, must be an alumnus of Varsity Boy's Basketball to participate in the games. There will be a concession stand and 3-point shooting contest.
