ATWATER -- Atwater police are on the lookout, following a string of robberies reported within the last week.
Investigators said it's unknown whether all three of the robberies are related.
The first robbery was reported Dec. 12 at a convenience store in the 1400 block of Broadway, according to Detective Armando Echevarria.
A lone man entered the store wearing dark clothing, a hooded sweatshirt and a black knit cap pulled over his face. The man demanded money from the clerk, who complied with the robber's demands. The robber was last seen running eastbound on Broadway with a small amount of cash, Echevarria said.
Another robbery was reported Dec. 15 at a convenience store in the 1800 block of Bellevue Road. The suspect, who was wearing a hooded shirt and some type of mask, entered the store and brandished a gun, demanding cash. The clerk complied with the robber, and the suspect was last seen running southbound on Winton Way.
A third robbery was reported Friday in the 100 block of East Manzanita Drive. Echevarria said a 53-year-old male pedestrian was approached by a dark-colored vehicle. The passenger brandished a gun, demanded the victim's goods, and pistol-whipped him. After the victim said he didn't have anything, the suspect got back into the car, and took off. The suspects were last seen traveling northbound on Shaffer Road.
The victim received minor injuries. Echevarria said evidence was located at two of the three robberies. Police are asking anyone with information to call the automated tip-line at 357-6390. Callers can remain anonymous.
