A 30-year-old man who was listed as one of the county's Most Wanted is in jail, after turning himself in to Merced County sheriff's deputies.
Burglary suspect Joseph Niehaus was arrested Thursday after calling Detective Brandon Thomas and making arrangements to turn himself in, according to Deputy Tom MacKenzie, sheriff's spokesman.
After seeing the picture profiled in the Sun-Star's Merced County's Most Wanted feature, MacKenzie said the suspect called family members, who convinced him to turn himself in.
Niehaus was wanted for two outstanding warrants and was under investigation by the sheriff's AG STAR Team on suspicion of burglary.
MacKenzie said his arrest is the third time in the last six months that someone profiled as Merced County's Most Wanted had turned himself in after seeing his profile in the newspaper.
Niehaus was booked without incident and remains in custody on $45,000 bail.
