Letter: Cuts, no furloughs
Editor: What is wrong with all the unions of private and government employees? There is no money out there, and for the unions to try to keep up their pay demands is outrageous.
The unions would rather have part of their employees lose their jobs so others don't have to take a pay reduction. Laying off any employee only adds to the unemployment rolls and leaves work undone.
Somehow someone needs to take them to task and require that all employees take a pay cut, be it 5 to 10 percent from the top (governor) down to bottom, and not just furlough days as a solution.
In these difficult times, we need to look out for each other. If it means senior employees taking a pay cut to save jobs of junior employees, then that is the decent thing to do.
