Off The 99

Off the 99: How will the G Street underpass affect you?

Waiting at the tracks for a rumbling train is a rite of passage in Merced. You haven't been in town for any meaningful amoung of time unless you've been stalled by a screeching locomotive.

That could all change soon, with the construction of a new underpass on G Street. But how much worse will things get before they're better? What kind of rush hour delays can residents expect during the year that part of G Street will be closed off completely?

What businesses will be lost? Where will school buses go? And how will emergency responders deal?

To answer these critical questions about a much-needed construction project, Off the 99 invited to our studio David Gonzalvez, director of development for the city of Merced, and David Axzom, operations director for the Riggs ambulance service.
