Miss Atwater contest orientation to be held March 1

Orientation for the Miss Atwater contest will take place at 6 p.m., Monday at Coldwell Banker, 2581 First St., Atwater.

Girls and young women who wish to enter the contest can fill out an application to bring to the orientation. Age categories are wee miss, ages 5-7; teen miss, seventh- and eighth-graders; and miss, ages 17-22.

Miss Atwater winners serve as ambassadors to the city. Miss Atwater is also awarded a yet-to-be-determined amount of scholarship money to be used for college tuition and fees.

Applications can be picked up at Buhach Colony High School, 1800 Buhach Road; Atwater High School, 2201 Fruitland Ave.; Memento's Bridal and Floral, 268 E. Bellevue Road; and Envy Fine Clothing, 1648 Bell Lane, among other locations.

Contestants must commit to selling 10 tickets to the contest or providing a $100 entry fee. The contest will be held April 24th at Buhach Colony High School Theater.
