Common Read Discussion Groups said the first discussion will be held today at 6 p.m. at UC Merced’s Willow Conference Room.
The room is on the third floor of the Classroom Building, which is the same building that houses Lakireddy Auditorium. It’s past the Kolligian Building (library) and across from the Natural Sciences building.
The group said it plans to have signs directing everyone to the correct room, but feel free to ask a student if you get lost.
The book group members are reading is “The World Without Us” by Alan Weisman. He’s a University of Arizona journalism professor. In just over 300 pages, the book describes what might happen on earth if human beings disappeared: “How our planet would respond without the pressure of the human presence.”
The other two sessions are next Thursday, March 4, at the Sam Pipes room in the Civic Center. The first session is from 10:30 a.m. to noon, and the second is 1:30 – 3 p.m.
If you haven’t yet registered for a discussion group, it’s not too late. Please either send a note to Peggy Biddison at peggy.biddisonmb1@statefarm.com with your choice of session, or simply come to one of the meetings.
Biddison can also be reached at (209) 384-8811 or (209) 201-6222.
