Video: Birds aplenty at the San Joaquin River National Wildlife Refuge

An ancient migration passes through the San Joaquin Valley every winter, when enough birds to block out the sun take rest in preserved wetlands and fallow fields.

The scenery has changed since Californians started building dams and regulating their rivers, but enough open space and water remains to lure the birds back year after year.
