Yosemite Outdoor Adventures offers 62 courses for 2010

Several field seminars are included in this year's offerings by Yosemite Outdoor Adventures. A total of 62 field courses are available, including several trips that have proved popular in the past. The courses are outlined in a free catalog available on the Yosemite Association Web site at http://www.yosemite.org or by calling (209) 379-2321, ext. 17.

Notable offerings include:

- a four-day backpacking trip through the highest elevations of the park to observe plant life during the late summer. The trip will be led by Steve Botti, author of "Yosemite Flora."

- two four-day family camping jamborees. Naturalists will lead easy hikes and provide evening entertainment.

- a series of three courses exploring the history of African-American, Chinese and Latino people in Yosemite.

- photography courses that include backpacking and an opportunity to view the elusive "moonbows."

- two Indian basketry courses.

- a course in writing nature and outdoor books for children.

- a number of art courses in Wawona, Yosemite Valley and Tuolumne Meadow.

In the fall, the Yosemite Association will offer a hiking trip to explore the natural history of Yosemite's two sister national parks in China.

Yosemite Outdoor Adventure participants do not have to be a member of the Yosemite Association/Yosemite Fund to attend field courses. However, members of the Yosemite Association get a 15 percent discount on all programs offered by Yosemite Outdoor Adventures.
