Around Town: Roller derby

Merced's roller derby team the Rollin's Roulettes will host a scrimmage that will be free to the public from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday at Rollerland, 1445 W. 18th St.

Meet your local roller derby girls and see what roller derby is all about.

Storytelling Festival

The Mariposa Museum and History Center will host "History Alive" an introductory event for the 23rd annual Storytelling Festival on March 11. For more information, call (209) 966-2555 or go to mariposamuseum.com.

ATWATER

Golf Tournament

The Merced County Fire Department/Atwater Company 61 Volunteers will hold their annual golf tournament at 8 a.m. March 13 at the Atwater Rancho Del Rey Golf Club.

Cost is $75 per golfer and includes green fees, cart and lunch. Raffle prizes and Hole in One grand prize of a 2010 Chevy Camaro. All proceeds will go to the volunteers general fund.

Disney's 'Mulan Jr.' Atwater and Buhach Colony high schools' drama departments will present Disney's "Mulan Jr." at 7:30 March 12, 13 and 19 and at 2 p.m. March 20 in the Buhach Colony theater. General admission is $10.

Lenten renewal Father Jim Nisbet will be the presenter for the parish annual Lenten renewal mission at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. March 16, 17 and 18 with two repeated sessions daily at noon and 7 p.m.

Topics will be "The Call of Isaiah," "The Limitless Power of God," "The Calls of Jeremiah," "The Good Side and the Bad Side of Everything" and "The Call of Mary, Hearing the Voice." Finger food will be served in the hall at 4985 Bullion St.

Tri-tip dinner Peggy Heller School will host a Tri-Tip Dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. March 20 at the school, 201 Lake View Drive.

Cost is $15 for a tri-tip only or $25 for a full dinner including tri-tip, salad, rolls and beans for four people.

Proceeds will help send the sixth-graders to outdoor camp.
